Mindfulness (MF) practices areadaptations from eastern meditative techniques which are utilized in different psycho-socialtherapies for promotion of physical and mental health. The psychological construct of MF refers to aspecial form of attention to internal and external phenomena in the present moment, includingopenness to experience in a non-critical attitude (i.e. without judgments). Mindfulness-basedpractices and interventions are particularly effective in promoting health for clinical conditionsinvolving chronic stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms. Similarly, regular exercise hasmultifarious benefits for health, especially activities that strongly integrate both psychological andphysiological training. Such is the case for martial arts (MA), the whole of which could be classifiedas mindful movements. Given that MA requires expenditure of energy done with a high level ofconcentration, engagement in this form of exercise may provide an interesting and novel strategyfor enhancing physical and mental benefits. The regular practice of MA could elevate MF levels ofpractitioners and thus influence positively on stress management and therefore quality of life andwell-being PB Asociación Española de Ciencias del Deporte SN 2386-4095 LK https://hdl.handle.net/10612/18942 UL https://hdl.handle.net/10612/18942 NO Naves-bittencourt, W.; Menonça De Sousa, A.; Stults Kolehmainen, M.; Fontes, E.; Córdova, C.; Demarzo, M.; Boullosa Álvarez, D.
