Entre Castilla y Portugal. Relaciones artísticas transfronterizas a través del patronazgo episcopal en el siglo XIV y comienzos del XV

Abstract

[ES] La presencia en Portugal de prelados castellanos fue muy notable, sobre todo, en la segunda mitad del siglo xiv. Existe escasa información sobre las actividades llevadas a cabo por ellos en sus sedes lusas; es un tema que apenas ha sido tratado por la historiografía y, en ningún caso, de forma global ni desde la óptica de la Historia del Arte. Este texto trata de contribuir al conocimiento de la personalidad y la labor de patrocinio artístico desarrollada por los obispos castellanos en las sedes portuguesas que jalonaron su cursus honorum y valorar el intercambio artístico provocado por este fenómeno transfronterizo.

[EN] The presence in Portugal of prelates from Castile was very notable, especially in the second half of the four¬teenth century. There is little information on the activities carried out by them in their Portuguese Cathedrals. It is a subject that has hardly been treated by the Historiography and, in any case, globally or from the perspective of the Art History. This text tries to contribute to the knowledge of the personality and the artistic sponsorship developed by the Castilian bishops in the Portuguese sees that marked their cursus honorum and to value the artistic exchange caused by this cross-border phenomenon.
