The seminal works of Morreale and Russell have notbeen matched as yet in their intent, although more Hispanists are nowturning their attention to the specific problems posed by the study ofmedieval translations.' The lack of fervor with which this area has beenexplored may result, in part, from the modern bias which places authorialoriginality above all else in the literary realm. Editing and studying atranslated text is simply not deemed as valuable as working with anoriginal composition. This culturally anachronistic view does not take intoaccount the medieval predilection for authoritative works which had beenextensively translated, glossed and commented PB Universidad de León SN 1132-3191 YR 2017 FD 2017-06-16 LK http://hdl.handle.net/10612/6354 UL http://hdl.handle.net/10612/6354 DS BULERIA.
