AB It could easily be argued that the very title of this paper is a crueldistortion: to speak, in the English language which is so often scornful oftranslation, about 'Spanish American' literature as a single entity is to ignorean important fact - Spanish America is 'a world composed of many cultures'When it comes to rendering Spanish American fiction in other languages,he sees the translation process as necessitating the accompaniment of an'interpretation' of that culture. The present paper will endeavour to tracesome of the history of that translation process and of that culturalinterpretation
