Resumo
[EN] The escalating demand for accurate and dense geo-referenced 3D data is pushing the Geomatics community to develop new tools and algorithms. As a result, Mobile Mapping technologies have experienced a rapidly growing research activity and interest in the last years, due to their ability of acquiring 3D information of large areas dynamically and cost-effectively. This versatility has expanded their application fields from the civil engineering to a broader range (industry, emergency response, cultural heritage...), which is still widening. This increased number of needs, some of them specially challenging, is translating into innovative solutions, ranging from new hardware/open source software approaches, integration of different sensors and devices, up to the adoption and development of artificial intelligence methods for the automatic extraction of salient features and quality assessment for performance verification. In this book, composed of 14 peer-reviewed articles, different trends and experiences are presented, each related to a different aspect of the new paradigm of Mobile Mapping Systems.
