La incidencia del efecto de la edad relativa (RAE) en el fútbol masculino y femenino en España = The incidence of the effect of relative age (RAE) in male and female football in Spain

Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar la presencia del efecto de la edad relativa en el fútbol profesional en España. Para ello, se han analizado la Primera y Segunda División Femenina y Masculina de fútbol. La muestra esta compuesta por un total de 1.493 jugadores que forman parte de los equipos de Primera y Segunda División Femenina y Masculina del fútbol profesional español en la temporada 2017/2018. Se ha realizado un análisis estadístico descriptivo de frecuencia y porcentaje con los datos obtenidos. Para realizar este análisis se ha dividido el año en cuatro trimestres y en dos semestres. Los resultados obtenidos en este trabajo confirman la existencia del efecto de la edad relativa en las principales ligas profesionales del fútbol español, mostrándose de una manera más notoria en la Primera División, tanto masculina como femenina, que en Segunda División. De esta manera se concluye que existe una mayor representación de jugadores nacidos en el primer semestre del año dentro de las dos divisiones del fútbol profesional español=The objective of this paper is to analyze the presence of the effect of relative age in professional football in Spain. For this, the First and Second Women's and Men's Division of soccer in Spain have been analyzed. The sample is composed of a total of 1,493 players who are part of the teams that are part of the First and Second Division of Women and Men professional football in Spain in the season 2017/2018. A descriptive statistical analysis of frequency and percentage has been carried out. To carry out this analysis, the year has been divided into four quarters and two semesters. The results obtained in this work confirm the existence of the effect of the relative age in the main professional leagues of Spanish football, showing itself in a more noticeable way in the First Division, both male and female, than in the Second Division. In this way it is concluded that there is a greater representation of players born in the first half of the year within the two divisions of Spanish professional football
