Los libros chinos circulantes en Filipinas a finales de la dinastía Ming = 明末菲律宾的中文书籍流通

Abstract

[ES] En el contexto histórico del boom de imprenta de Fukién a finales de la dinastía Ming, las publicaciones chinas de diversos géneros se exportaron de Quanzhou y de otros puertos fukieneses al Sureste de Asia. El presente artículo indaga qué géneros de libros chinos se hallaban en las Filipinas en aquella época y analiza quiénes eran sus importadores, con base en los textos en chino (en concreto, Pien Cheng Chiao Chen-Chu´an Shih-lu, Memorial de la vida cristiana en lengua china y Símbolo de la fe en lengua y letra china) y las cartas en español escritos por los misioneros dominicos de los siglos XVI y XVII en Filipinas, así como otros archivos históricos coetáneos. Con el estudio presente se ve que se podían leer en estas Islas los libros xilográficos chinos de los siguientes géneros, que eran los más famosos e impresos de la época: los dedicados a la preparación del examen imperial, obras históricas, teatrales, novelas, los de medicina y los de consulta. Estos libros chinos fueron exportados por los comerciantes fukieneses allí como mercancías. No solo formaban una rica parte de la vida cultural de los sangleyes locales, sino que también les servían a los misioneros españoles como manuales para aprender chino y materiales para conocer la cultura china. De este modo, les funcionaron como fundamentos para elaborar los tactos evangélicos para los chinos y jugaron un papel esencial en la comunicación cultural sino-española en la colonia.

[EN] : In the historical background of the printing boom of Fukien at the late Ming dynasty, Chinese publications of various categories were exported from Quanzhou and other Fukienese ports to Southeast Asia. This article aims for revealing what types of Chinese books were there in Philippines at that time and analyzing who were their importers, based on the texts in Chinese (namely Pien Cheng Chiao Chen-Chu´an Shih-lu, Memorial of the Christian Life in Chinese Language and Symbol of Faith in Chinese Language and Letters) and the letters in Spanish written by the Dominican missionaries of the sixteenth and seventeenth Centuries in those Islands, as well as other coeval historical archives. The present work will show that the Chinese xylographic books of the following categories, which were the most popular and more printed in China, were being read in the Philippines Islands: books used for the preparation of the Imperial exam, historical works, plays, novels, medical and reference books. These Chinese books were exported there as merchandise by the Fukienese traders. They not only formed a rich part of the cultural life of the local sangleys, but also were used by the Spanish missionaries as text books for learning Mandarin, as well as materials to get to know the Chinese culture. Thus, they functioned as foundations for their elaboration of evangelic tactics for the Chinese and played an essential part in the Sino-Spanish cultural communication in this colony.

[ZH] 在明末福建出版业爆炸性增长的背景下，各种福建坊刻的中文书籍通过泉州等口岸出口东南 亚。本文以十六世纪末、十七世纪初菲律宾多明我会传教士的中文著作（《辩正教真传实录》《僚氏正教 便览》《格物穷理便览》）和西文信件为主要历史依据，参考同时期的相关档案文件，探究当时在菲岛可 见的中文书籍种类，并分析其来源。通过本文的研究可知，明末版刻图书的主要门类：科考用书、史书、 小说、戏文、医书和生活实用性类书、杂书等，均可见于菲律宾，且这些书籍作为商品的一种由福建华商 出口至菲律宾，不仅丰富了当地华人的文化生活，同时也给懂中文的西班牙传教士提供了学习中文、了解 中国文化的材料，亦成为他们制定对华传教策略的依据，在当地的中西文化交流中发挥了巨大作用。
