Revisión de algunos argumentos favorables a la “asistencia sexual”

Abstract

[ES] Este artículo presentará cuatro argumentos en defensa de la llamada asistencia sexual a personas con discapacidad y se procederá a su revisión desde una perspectiva feminista. En primer lugar, se discutirá si es conveniente catalogar la “asistencia sexual” como un tipo de “trabajo sexual” diferente a la prostitución convencional. En segundo lugar, se valorará si la satisfacción sexual es un derecho que las personas con discapacidad ven dificultado o directamente imposibilitado sin la figura del/la asistente sexual. En tercer lugar, se evaluará si, como aseguran sus defensores, esta actividad cumple una función social y, ligado a lo anterior, en cuarto lugar, se examinará si la asistencia sexual beneficia o perjudica la emancipación de las personas con discapacidad.

[EN] This article will present four arguments in defense of so-called sexual assistance to persons with disabilities and will proceed to review them from a feminist perspective. First, it will discuss whether it is appropriate to label “sexual assistance”as a type of “sex work”different from conventional prostitution. Secondly, it will be assessed whether sexual satisfaction is a right that people with disabilities find difficult or directly impossible without the figure of the sexual assistant. Thirdly, it will be assessed whether, as its advocates claim, this activity fulfills a social function and, linked to the above, fourthly, it will be examined whether sexual assistance benefits or harms the emancipation of people with disabilities.
