Los límites del turismo industrial en áreas desfavorecidas. Experiencias singulares en España

Abstract

[ES] El proceso histórico de industrialización ha generado en España un importante volumen de edificios, instalaciones e infraestructuras abandonadas en espacios que fueron escenarios privilegiados de actividades que actuaron como motor económico en valles mineros, pequeñas ciudades siderúrgicas o en espacios rurales. Hoy algunos de ellos se han transformado en recursos, tras el cambio de modelo de sistema productivo que representó el paso del capitalismo industrial al capitalismo postfordista o global. Analizamos aquí tres casos de estudio, con tipologías diferentes, en los que esos elementos se perfilan como una oportunidad para territorios que buscan en el turismo una opción de desarrollo bajo fórmulas que apuestan preferentemente por la cultura. La metodología empleada se centra en la revisión bibliográfica, el trabajo de campo y contacto directo con estas iniciativas. Los resultados dejan patente que las experiencias de valorización del patrimonio industrial al servicio del turismo no siempre son exitosas y que los límites del turismo industrial son difusos. Además, alertan sobre la conveniencia de valorar no solo el impacto económico, sino otros intangibles de interés social o relacionados con el potencial territorial.

[EN] The historical process of industrialization has generated a significant amount of buildings, installations and infrastructure abandoned in spaces that were privileged scenarios of activities that acted as an economic engine in Spain in miners valleys, small steel cities or in rural spaces. Today some of them have been transformed into resources after the change of model of system productive that represented the step of the capitalism industrial to the capitalism postfordist or global. We look here at three case studies, with different typologies, in which these elements are emerging as an opportunity for territories that seek in the tourism an option of development low formulas that bet preferably by the culture. The methodology focuses on the literature review, field work and direct contact with these initiatives. The results left clear that the experiences of development of the industrial heritage at the service of tourism not always confirm a success infallible and define the limits on industrial tourism is not easy. In addition, the results alert on warn about the appropriateness of assessing not only the economic impact, but other intangibles to local heritage or social value
