El monasterio de San Pedro de Montes y su identidad a través de su cartulario

Abstract

[ES] El conocido como Tumbo viejo del monasterio de San Pedro de Montes es la fuente principal de este estudio para descubrir cómo el monasterio, por medio de su scriptorium, creó una definición clara de la institución cenobítica, de su identidad; una definición de su ubicación, de sus santos titulares, de sus reliquias, del ejemplo y memoria de los insignes habitantes del mismo: san Fructuoso y san Valerio. Así se advierte fundamentalmente en las fórmulas protocolarias de la primera parte de sus diplomas, fórmulas heredadas pero ajustadas a una realidad de transmisión documental del monasterio. Estas fórmulas evolucionaron desde la Alta Edad Media hasta el siglo XIII, en que se confeccionó el citado cartulario.

[EN] The register of documents known as Tumbo viejo from the monastery of San Pedro de Montes has been the main source of study to find out how the monastery, through its scriptorium, created a clear definition of the cenobitic institution, of its identity; a definition of its location, its patron saints, relics, the example and memory of its distinguished monks: Saint Fructuosus and Saint Valerius. This is noticed fundamentally through the protocol formulas in the first part of its diplomas. They were inherited formulas, but conformed to a reality of documentary transmission in the monastery. They evolved from the High Middle Ages to the thirteenth century, when the aforementioned cartulary was compiled.
