Abstract
[EN] Traditionally, garlic (Allium sativa) has been used for curative purposes without full knowledge of its action. Among its most outstanding aplications are its antibiotic and antifungal properties. However, the bibliography regarding its application on crops is practically null. For this reason, the objective of this work was to determine by means of bioassays whether there is an inhibitory effect of garlic on the bacteria Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola and on the fungus Rhizopus stolonifer. Although antimicrobial capacity was not detected, antifungal capacity was observed, obtaining an I50 value of 32.38 mg/ml. Likewise, its possible role as an elicitor of the immune response was evaluated after measuring the total H2O2 through luminescence assays on leaf discs of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) riñon variety, observing a peak of ROS in those previously treated with garlic 1 mg/ml, which is indicative of elicitation. Plants were treated or not with this garlic solution before inoculating the bacterium to evaluate the percentage of leaf damage, which was significantly less in plants previusly treated with garlic
