AB [EN] Roman gold mining in Northwest Spain was focused on four major mining dis-tricts: Las Médulas, Omañas, Duerna and Eria. Despite the Eria Gold Districtrepresents one of the largest gold mining areas, it has received little attention. Sofar, archaeomining surveys carried out in the area were based on the use of aerialphotography for the recognition of ancient hydraulic systems and mining pits.Th e integration of new technologies in archeology, such as airborne LiDAR andUnmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones or UAVs), allows the study and acquisition ofdata useful for the reconstruction and preservation of the archaeological recordin inaccessible areas, and providing results with diff erent resolution. We presenta comparison of surveying methods based on the study conducted with geoma-tic applications and focused on the gold mining district of the Eria River Valley(southwest province of León). Our results provide high-resolution digital modelsthat were processed with image enhance tools, aiming at the recognition of newlydiscovered mining sites and the complex hydraulic systems, comprising channelsand water reservoirs for transport and accumulation of water used in the mainmining areas. Th is methodology improved the archaeological prospection worksfocused in the recognition of mining features and can be applied in other golddistricts of interest with similar characteristics.
