El mecenazgo artístico durante los Reinos de Taifas: Al-Ma'mun de Toledo

Abstract

[ES] Debemos entender el siglo XI andalusí en un contexto histórico en el que las faifas competían por superponer su autoridad política a la del resto de monarcas, rodeándose para ello de ilustres personalidades de ámbitos artísticos y sapienciales. Entonces el arte adquirió un papel fundamental como representación material del poder. Esto propició la configuración de talleres artísticos en torno a los palacios, así como a la importación de piezas y formas estéticas, algunas llegadas desde más allá del Mediterráneo. Así, las recepciones, festividades y otras reuniones celebradas en los maylis estarían ornamentadas con la mayor suntuosidad. En este caso analizaremos la figura de al-Ma'mun de Toledo, ya que conservamos importantes fuentes escritas que nos han permitido profundizar en esta investigación.

Then art acquired a role as a material representation of power. This fact casused the creation of art wokshops around the palaces, as well as the import of pieces and aesthetic forms, some of them aven coming from beyond the Mediterranean. So that receptions, festivities and other meetings celebrated in the majlis would be decorated with splendor. We will analyse the figure of al-Ma'mun from Toledo, as we keep important sources which have allowed us to go deeply into this research.
