[EN] In the fire-prone landscapes of the Mediterranean Basin, it’s essential to monitor the vegetation in order to carry out forest management that ensures the maintenance of the processes and functionality of the ecosystem in a post-fire situation. The structural complexity of the vegetation plays a crucial role in promoting the ecological resilience of ecosystems in the face of fire, so this work will evaluate the effect of fire severity on the structural complexity of the vegetation in a burned landscape of the western Mediterranean Basin. For this purpose, field data will be used together with different remote sensing techniques and data, such as Sentinel- 2 images (multispectral data) to estimate the severity of the fire and Sentinel-1 (radar data) to estimate the structural complexity of the vegetation. Both types of remote sensing data have shown high precision for assessing both fire severity and the structural complexity of vegetation at large spatial scales. It has been shown that, at high severities, the vertical structural complexity of the vegetation is significantly lower than at medium and low severities. These results support the joint use of multispectral data and radar data to monitor the vertical structural complexity of the vegetation and prioritize areas where post-fire management actions should be carried out
