Abstract
[ES] Antecedentes: Teniendo en cuenta el desarrollo que en los últimos años las TIC y redes sociales han tenidoen el ámbito universitario, este trabajo analiza el efecto de las redes sociales, y en concreto de la creación de páginas web en Facebook, sobre la motivación y resultado académico de los estudiantes universitarios. Método: Se creó una página para una asignatura de grado impartida en la Universidad de León. De forma paralela a las clases, se añadía en el muro de la página información complementaria a la vista en el aula y en el foro se abría el debate sobre cuestiones que despertaran el interés de los alumnos. Resultados:Los resultados sugieren una participación de los alumnos más activa en el foro que en el muro y cómo el hecho de estar agregado a la página deriva en una mayor nota media, siendo la diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los estudiantes agregados y no. Conclusiones: Esta iniciativa como herramienta docente parece que puede consolidar la relación profesor-alumno. Así, en un cuestionario anónimo los estudiantes la valoran de manera positiva indicando su interés por iniciativas similares en otras asignaturas y cómo la participación en la página de Facebook aumentó su motivación por la asignatura. [EN] Background:Considering the development of social networks and the technologies of information and communication, this paper aims is to analyse the effect of social
networks, in particular, the creation of web pages on Facebook on motivation and academic performance of students at the University. Methods: We created a page for a course grade offered at University of León. Additional information to those offered in class was added to the wall of the and in the forum opened the debate on issues that arise the interest of students. Results: The results suggest an involvement of the students more active in the forum and how the fact of being added to the page derives in a higher mark, being the difference statistically significant between those students that joined to the web page and those that not. Conclusions: This initiative as a teaching tool seems to be consolidating teacher-student relationship. Thus, in an anonymous questionnaire students positively valued teaching innovation indicating their interest in similar initiatives in other subjects and how participation in the Facebook page increased their motivation for the subject.
