Abstract

[ES] Rafael Chirbes (1949- 2015) es uno de los escritores más importantes del proteico panorama literario español de las últimas décadas. Aunque la crítica se refiere con frecuencia a su novela Crematorio (2007) como un punto de inflexión, Chirbes insistió en la unidad de su proyecto novelístico desde su primera obra publicada, Mimoun (1988). Convencido del «efecto boomerang» que tiene la vuelta al pasado para la comprensión del presente, este proyecto gira en torno de un claro eje: la relectura de ciertos momentos de la historia española reciente, desde la Guerra Civil hasta la actualidad. Siguiendo esta línea, en este trabajo, comparto algunas reflexiones acerca del discurso histórico en la obra de Chirbes y propongo como hipótesis que, en sus ficciones, delinea una teoría de la historia propia.

[EN] Rafael Chirbes (1949-2015) is one of the most important writers of the protean Spanish literary context of recent decades. Although his novel Crematorium (2007) is often referred to as a turning point, Chirbes insisted on the unity of his literary project from his first published novel, Mimoun (1988), onwards. Convinced that going back to the past has a «boomerang effect» for understanding the present, his project has a clear axis: a new reading of certain moments in recent Spanish history, from the Civil War to nowadays. Following this main idea, in this article, I share some reflections about the historical discourse in Chirbes’ literary work and I propose, as a hypothesis, that he outlines in his fictions his own theory of history.
